Secured HLF funding to run an anniversary "Bowland Scrapbook" project to capture memories, stories and mementoes of the National Landscape during the past 50 years. Project administered by Champion Bowland and delivered by external project manager with support from of a range of volunteers.
Annual Report for the financial year 2014-15 produced and available on the National Landscape website.
The N4N project aimed to help create a living network of nectar hubs for bees and other pollinating invertebrates across the National Landscape by creating small patches of species rich grassland and corn field annual patches, mainly on non-farmed land such as in school grounds, businesses and community spaces.
The project created 25 nectar patches, 7 mini-meadows and worked at a field scale to restore 35 ha of meadows as well. The project worked with 10 community groups, 6 private landowners, 10 businesses and 5 schools. We organised 12 public events, attracting 170 people.
Delivery of the Bowland Anniversary Awards, designed to recognise the dedication and enthusiasm of some of the many landowners, businesses, community groups and individuals who help to make the Forest of Bowland such a special place. Winners chosen in seven categories, reflecting the breadth of work which takes place in the National Landscape. Nominations invited, shortlisted entries judged and winners announced at a special gala event towards the end of the anniversary year. Sponsors of the event included: Green Tourism, United Utilities, Countryscape, Grosvenor Estates, Duchy of Lancaster, Lord of Bowland, Life for a Life Memorial Forests and Lancashire Best Kept Village Competition.
