With summer fully underway certain fields are a blaze with many species of wildflowers including yellow rattle, bird's foot trefoil, oxeye daisy, ragged robin, pignut, knapweed and devil's bit scabious.
Also look out for:
- Special plants such as bog rosemary on the blanket bog.
- Roadside verges which will be in full bloom at this time of year and busy with butterflies and other insects.
- Stonechats and whinchats in the moorland valleys where there is some bracken cover.
